Agent Steel have issued a four song EP after the track "Earth Under Lucifer". Many look at this release as a way to prove that the band's new vocalist, Bruce Hall, has what it takes to replace the original vocalist. After about ten years of silence, they began to record again, making this their third actual release. Comprised of three classic tracks, and the title track, which comes off the band's Order Of The Illuminati album, this is a rather decent EP for their fans.
But, we'll take this slow. While "Earth Under Lucifer" is a great track, it sounds horrible. It has some rough moments vocally where they just don't feel properly harmonized with the music, and the bass is just too high up and sounds ridiculous. Had the bass been toned down, it would have been a different story, but instead we're left with a decent track. The live tracks on here sound pretty good as well, but the higher notes that are sung often just sound a bit too much and overdone, and, in the case of "Mad Locust Rising", can give you a couple of chuckles with how funny it sounds.
Earth Under Lucifer is a nice companion piece for fans of the band. If you aren't really a fan, "Unstoppable Force (Live 2003)" and especially "Agents Of Steel (Live 2003)" will kick your ass. The other two may wind up being a bit comical due to what sounds like an abuse of the higher pitch vocals on "Mad Locust Rising (Live 2003)" to over modulation during the recording of "Earth Under Lucifer".
