Review
Evidence Of Inequity, the debut EP from brutal technical death metal act Beneath The Massacre pretty much came out of nowhere and essentially stayed there. This is rather sad considering how intense this release is. If you happened across this EP and didn't pick it up, you should commence smacking yourself across the face repeatedly now. Why?
Evidence Of Inequity is a sick, fast paced brutal death metal album. It's pretty much unrelenting from start to finish. The complexity to the music on here rivals that of some of the greats in the field, such as Cryptopsy, with "Profitable Killcount" being the more stand out track of the release due to the speed the music is played, and how technical the guitar chords become throughout the song. Now, that's not to say the other songs are lacking, which would be a huge understatement. "Totalitarian Hypnosis" and "Regurgitated Lullaby For The Born Dead" have some insane technical riffs as well, but they don't really sound the music different from each other, sadly. There are also moments on the EP that could very well be considered breakdowns, but they don't really affect the music at all.
There really isn't anything bad with this release at all. Each song on this release is fast, technical, and brutal. The only negative thing that could be said about this album is that "Comforting Prejudice" seems to be just a bit weaker compared to the rest of the material on the EP, and "Nevermore" could have been better used as the fourth track on the album, allowing "Regurgitated Lullaby For The Born Dead" to give the ending a really powerful climax. If you haven't picked this one up yet, then what are you waiting for? Evedence Of Inequity is a must have release for all death metal fans, and metal fans in general.
