Review
Burden come at the metal community hard with their debut 7" EP release Man Of No Account, a release that shows great promise for this band. If you're looking for a release that is just flat out heavy and has a little more substance to it then just the generic anticipations of that style, then embrace this release with open arms. The only let down to this EP would be the fact that it's only two tracks long, leaving the listener craving more. But oh what a glorious two tracks these are. The first track, "The Slag. The Drag. The Misery." is a solid mid-tempo track full of heavy riffs you would come to expect from a Doom or Stoner release. The powerful rhaspy vocal performance works perfectly with the music, giving it a somewhat approachable Hard Rock feel as well. The nice thing about it is that the vocals aren't just limited to that rhasp, but are also sung clean during this and the title track, "Man of No Account", which is a more Hard Rock oriented track with some heavy Doom/Stoner influence. If you want some good Rock and Metal, then Man Of No Account is clearly a must have album. This little tease only provides ten minutes of material, but it's nothing but solid, catchy music that you'll want to listen to over and over again. However, while it leaves you longing for more, it also gives hope for the band's upcoming thirteen track full-length release that is [at the time of this review] currently being recorded. If you have never heard of Burden before, now is your first chance, and yes, it's practically mandatory.
