Review
The debut EP Delicious Carcass by Exquisite Pus was originally self released, which is the version being reviewed, and not the EP that was released through Pestilent Records, and either there is no difference in the album, or the band slapped on the label name to their self released version, or something along those lines, as apparently neither release differs musically. Either way, Delicious Carcass is a brutal death metal and grindcore album that encompasses both gore and porno, which, if you can't tell by the rather interesting song titles, you'll know from the audio chunk taken from some random porno that kicks off "How To Enjoy A Carcass", as well as the climax at the climax (couldn't resist the pun).

The quality of this release is better then most independently released demos and EPs out there, as everything on here is pretty clear. The recording does utilize some rather distorted, bass heavy effects on the vocals. "How To Enjoy A Carcass" really doesn't have much of an impact but "Grandma's Cunt" has some good music behind it, and also utilizes the inward gutteral style in the background during one moment (not the pig squeel, more like the drowning-type of gutteral), and a really nice guitar riff around two minutes and twenty seconds into the song. It isn't until "Fucking Your Rotten Face" kicks in with it's clearly grindcore influenced music that you really find something worthwhile on the EP, even though the music on this, as well as the other songs, jumps around a lot. Sadly, the conclusion to the EP just doesn't hold up that well either, and ultimate sounds exactly like what you've already heard.

With it's really bass driven sound, Delicious Carcass isn't that great EP. it has it's moments, but aside "Fucking Your Rotten Face", this EP really isn't anything all too special to bend over backwards in an attempt to find it. If you like porn with your gore, you're in for a treat, but if you want heavy, brutal as hell music to go along with the brutal death metal and grindcore combination here, then you're just better off looking elsewhere, as this EP really doesn't hold much, if any, replay value.
