Review
So, once again we find ourselves staring down the loaded barrel of a solo black metal album. It seems that anymore, all you have to do is know how to play guitar and bass, and work a drum machine in order to have a CD released. Well, that and the traditional corpse paint and lyrics against Christianity. Well, that's the case here, but this package at least come with talent.
Le Notti Del Peccato by Fearbringer is a well produced one man God hating machine. You can easily tell the drums were programmed and not human, which usually does bring down the music in some cases. Yes, that is the case here, but not by much luckily due to the higher quality raw sound presented.
The keyboards that are present on this release add a rather haunting feel to the songs. "Perverted Holy Hands", for example, has a simplistic church organ-like intro. Sadly the solo aspect of this for the songs intro is somewhat ruined by some techno-sounding cymbol hits due to the programming. "Ruined Convent Breath" is also somewhat haunting, and is just an instrumental. However, one listen to this track is really enough, as it will become rather boring on future releases.
One thing that stands about this release is that the vocals aren't overdone and high pitched, or god awful. Instead they work with the tone of the album, being a deep, semi-gutteral style, which some singing in the background from time to time, which can make or break the song. The singing on "The Mad Nun" was decent, but seemed out of place, whereas the singing on "Perverted Holy Hands" just seemed to fit in, and on "Seviziata" demanded some getting use to, especially since it's the chorus. But all in all, the clean singing is a nice touch, but does a little more damage then good.
Of course, the obligatory "Come on!" shout in Black Mother Nightmare must be noted as, it is simply uninthusiastic and absolutely unnecessary. So, with all this being said, while the album clearly has some talent, the problems with the release are simply too much to overlook. If you're a die hard black metal fan who loves the "kvlt" and "raw" sound, this one is right up your alley, save for the somewhat tone def singing. Other then that, this release is nice for a few listens, but over time will just start to bore you.
