Review
Gorgasm is the best explanation available for this band's music. This Indiana-based Brutal Death Metal act exploded onto the scene in 1998 with their debut EP release, Stabwound Intercourse, though the group had formed in 1994. It was this release that earned the most attention for the band, though their following first full-length effort, Bleeding Profusely, was not as well embraced for various reasons, but it's really the only release from this band that anyone looked down on. Orgy of Murder marks the band's return, giving us their first full-length in eight years, and it's about time. But is it really worth the wait?

The artwork of the album is easily the best representation of this album. It's soaked in Brutal Death Metal gore with enough perverse sexualism (hence the -gasm in the name) to make even the most veteran Goregrind or Pornogrind veterans feel awkward thanks to it's natural feeling of somewhat technical brutality. The release offers a great amount of variety throughout, mostly sticking to a faster paced approach, but will slow down to a mid-tempo for a good of time too, which shows off the band's technical performance skills nice, such as on the track "Axe to Mouth", which features the mid-tempo pace a little more then faster music, as well as delving into a much slower speed all together that works well for the recording, but feels a little out of place. These slower moments often act a more Slam Death Metal-esque breakdown, but there is typically a lot going on during these moments that they genuinely stand out in the mix compared to some bands of that style. These Slam sections appear in plenty of songs, and while once in a while they may feel a little awkward, most of them work out well with the final product. "Infection Induced Erection" is an example due to the song closing in that manner, as well as bleeding into "Decapitation Sodomy" to start the song.

The music is simply brutal and punishing because of all of that. And it has to be, especially with such song titles as "Bloodlust", "Dirty Cunt Beatdown", as well as "Cum Inside the Carcass". Many of these tracks also utilize audio samples that further push the perverse mixture of sex and gore, like with the title track "Bloodlust" of an audio clip from a porno and the sounds of violence layered over it, or the opening of the track "Dirty Cunt Beatdown" which starts off with a guy threatening a woman before the track hammers into full effect. The audio samples serve a purpose, and for the most part they work very well to set the mood of the song, as well as the album. Of course, sometimes, like with "Dirty Cunt Beatdown", the snippet becomes more of a chunk, not necessarily reaching the length of audio chunks utilized by Mortician, but can still create a situation where you feel like the audio snippet is clearly taking a little too long.

The only downfall to this recording is that the album consists of eleven tracks total, but yet doesn't even make it past the thirty minute mark. While this isn't something that holds back the album, or hinders it's well deserved score, it's painful because of how long it took for the fans to get another album of this caliber by this band, only to have it just be a but longer then an EP or MCD. Orgy of Murder is just a fantastic Brutal Death Metal release, and one that not many will probably know about, which is sad. The music on every song is fresh, original, and has the perfect production quality to it. The only thing that could have been different for this effort's production would be the sound of the snare drums, which sound more like the drumming is hammering away against wooden blocks. Other then that, there's nothing negative to be said about this release.

Orgy of Murder makes for a fantastic Brutal Death Metal romp, and each track on here is simply fantastic ravaging Brutal Death Metal. The gutterals themselves are perfect, both in the recording, and just in their energetic performance and execution. The music is furious, brutalizing, and overall just top notch compositions with each track, with the only downfalls coming from some of the Slam moments that can either feel fluid with the release, or can feel a little more like they were tacked on just to have them there, though not necessarily messing with the natural flow of the album. If you want something sick, punishing, and riddled with gore filled intensity that truly lives up to the Brutal Death Metal style, then Gorgasm's third full-length, Orgy of Murder is an album well worth the wait, and exactly what your sick and twisted mind wants to hear over and over again.
