Review
The Killing EP marks the rather quick flipping of musical styles for Hatesphere. While the band started off more as a Thrash Metal act, this release does find the band incorporating a slight Melodic Death sound to the mix, which is a nice addition to the sound. For this release, the band offers three fresh songs that show off some of the aspects of their new train of musical thought, and your traditional cover song. But, clocking in at just under fifteen minutes, the question is really whether it's worth the cost.

Yes, the EP is short, they're supposed to. However, these four songs are actually worth it. Much of the material still has the band's earlier heavily Thrash sound in it, with only "Murderous Intent" being more on the side of Melodic Death, as well as one of the slower tracks on the release. All three of the new original songs on here are well performed and very addicting and mostly focus on beingh of a mid-tempo pace, or a little slower. Tere are moments, much like the ending of "The Will of God" and during "You're The Enemy", but the fastest song off the entire EP would be the Suicidal Tendencies cover track "Trip At the Brain". This cover does the original justice with enough intensity to get your blood pumping and make you wanna mosh wherever you stand. The guitar solo on the song isn't too bad either.

To be honest, if you are a fan of Hatesphere then The Killing EP is a release you're gonna love. While the first track, "Murderous Intent", could be a little better, much of this release is packed with solid Thrash and Melodic Death hook goodness that will leave you coming back for repeat spins. Even those who aren't that big on the band will surely take one listen to the "Trip At the Brain" cover and greatly enjoy it's flawless performance. While it may not be worth the hefty retail price tag only because of how short it is, it's at least worth the smaller price tag at your favorite on-line MP3 retailer.
