Review
This EP would take some serious score damage for the given track listing if it were one you would have to purchase on a store shelf, but the fact that this was a promotional EP, primarily sent out to radio stations to support the then upcoming Lamb Of God album Sacrament. The Redneck EP really is only worth it for the fans who are O.C.D. or are just that die hard they have to have it all, because there is pretty much nothing new here you couldn't find in MP3 format or on previous releases. The first two tracks on the release are the exact same song. The first "Redneck" is the regular album version, but the second "Redneck" is the radio friendly version. Common sense would dictate if this is a radio EP, but the censored version as track one so it wouldn't be accidentally played on the air, which has happened more then once, one could be sure. But the song is actually not that bad, but you can hear a little bit of what seems like Pantera worship in some of the guitar riffs. The only reason this EP was really worth tracking down at the time was for the unreleased album version of "Redneck", but now, since Sacrament> was released, there's no real need. The last two tracks, "Omerta" and "Black Label" are simply tracks taken from their live DVD Killadelphia. Again, as for a radio sampler, this is an ok move, as these tracks will get some air play to promote the band's current release at that time, as well as their then upcoming album. If you have the Killadelphia release, there is no point to even bother looking for these. If not, just look for the DVD as it will probably be cheaper by now then any price you could find for this release. For those who haven't heard that release, the production quality on these tracks are pretty good, but better does exist. So, the question is, are you a collector? If you are, it's a nice token to have in your collection. If you're not, and are just a casual fan, skip it. Redneck is just an EP that has nothing new, and was seriously overplayed on metal radio stations anyhow. It's hard to judge the score to give this one, so considering it was for radio play, there shall be some leniency, but not much.
