Review
It seems to be getting harder and harder to find a grindcore album that isn't just blast beats or noise, or even suffering from inward gutteral vocals (or pig squeels as some would call them). The Arsonist And The Architect by Luddite Clone, however, is definitely the answer to your grinding prayers.
First off, this EP is heavy. The guitars and drums work perfectly together to create a rather charactic sound that is right in your face. Another major plus is that the vocalist doesn't go over the top in just screaming in a higher pitch with background screams for "added effect". And yes, there are blast beats, but they are in moderation, not constant, and most of the time built up.
Almost every track goes into the next one on this release, whether by music starting quickly on the next song, or by an audio sample that kills the silence between them. "Oratory Of The Jigsaw", however, does not do this with "Arthropod". So, for the most part, the music pretty much never stops on this.
There really isn't much to say about this album, aside the fact that it'll kick you in the ass. It's heavy, and the way that good grindcore should be done. It's not over the top, it does have a what appears to be a breakdown in "Arthropod", and moves at a blistering pace (aside some slower moments that creep up here and there). If you're looking for a damn good grindcore release, then look no further then Luddite Clone's EP The Arsonist And The Architect. This rather short EP is very well done and will easily be stuck in your CD player for a while.
