Hot off the tail of the band's Crucify My Heart album comes an the Fire Within EP. Some will look at this release as just a way to milk the fans of the band, especially given the misleading tag on the cover that it features two alternate version of songs, two new songs, and one cover song. You would picture that to be five tracks, right? Well, that is a little misleading, but that doesn't mean this EP is a total rip off. Infact, it's a really good release.

"Fire Within" is just the track taken from the Crucify My Heart release, which is very heavy, and catchy as hell. However, that's not the real spotlight of this EP, even though it's the song the EP was created to promote. The band's cover of "L.O.V.E. Machine" by W.A.S.P. is absolutely amazing and catches the heaviness of the original song perfectly, and is complimented very well by the female singer's vocal style. "Be My God (Tribal Reprise)" is a decent song, but the tribal aspect of this version doesn't really work out that well for it, and the second new track, "The #1 Rebel" is basically filler. But the real gem about this release is "Crucify My Heart Pt. II (Piano Version)" which is the original version from Crucify My Heart, except it is simply piano, some orchestral elements to make it more powerful, and is sung so well that it could actually bring a tear to your eye.

So, while Fire Within is promoting the song with the same name off the last album, it's the W.A.S.P. cover, and the beautiful "Crucify My Heart Pt. II (Piano Version)" that really set the bar for this release. If you haven't heard this band, or are iffy about checking them out, grab this EP and give it a listen. Yes, it has two songs that would be considered filler, but the two non-album tracks are just too good to be missed for any reason.
