Once again, Motörhead is back with another uncompromisingly heavy album. Motörizer continues the staple sound that has made the band so popular after all these years, and somehow has become heavier! This album features some great tracks on it that any Motörhead fan will love. But, the real stand out issue about this release is the production quality. While their last effort, Kiss Of Death was a stellar release, it would definitely have benefitted from being a little heavier. The quality simply sounds clearer then previous works, and the best part is the distortion used on the guitars, which just gives it one hell of an edge. Just one listen to the opener "Runaround Man" and you'll be hooked on this album. The music found on this release is what you would expect by now from Motörhead. You have your general catchy as hell heavy metal cuts, such as "Runaround Man" and "When The Eagle Screams", and then you have your old school speed metal tracks like "Rock Out", which is just a balls to the wall (pun intended) track in the vain of the classic "Ace Of Spades", as well as "Buried Alive". But then you have some of the slower, sludgier like tracks, like "One Short Life" and the very virtuous anthem "Heroes", which is just one of those types of rock songs that make you want to just lay back and break open a pack of smokes, even if you don't smoke in the first place. The only negative aspect to this release. It all starts with the song "English Rose", which has Lemmy harmonizing his rough vocals with no music, which is something he shouldn't do. The song itself is great though, so don't let the vocals that sound forced fool you. But aside that, this is just your typical kick ass Motörhead album with a great productionq quality, and an amazing listen from the start to end. It's heavy, it's loud, it's infectious, and filled with catchy southern riffs to show that, with all the changes going on in metal today, Motörhead will always be there to rock you. |
