Released in 2005, this compilation album contains the Necrophagia EP Cannibal Holocaust, as well as the full length album Banished Rhythmic Hate by Viking Crown. This two disc package comes with new, and very little, artwork that has the track listing inside (instead of on the back), which may very well mislead anyone unfamiliar with these two releases. A quick glance would make one think this was a new Necrophagia album and the titles at the bottom of the front cover were song titles, all being drawn up in the style of an old horror comic book. This isn't the case, and for some, it's an extreme letdown.
But, the split CD does come at a low cost, so for collector's looking to add one or the other of these releases to their collection will find delight with this release, as Draped In Treachery is cheaper then if you were to buy the originals of these used. The first disc, being Cannibal Holocaust features an unreleased track and two demo tracks from an earlier Necrophagia album. This EP isn't really that great, especially when you throw in the second disc, Banished Rhythmic Hate, which is a highly misunderstood release. See the additional reviews section for in depth reviews on these CDs!
This split CD is a nice value if you never heard these releases, or have been on the hunt for one or the other. While some of the songs found on both discs sound mediocre, or laugh out loud bad, it's the title track "Cannibal Holocaust" on disc one, and all the ambient instrumental tracks on the second disc that really make up for them. While this isn't a must own release, especially if you already have these releases, it's worth atleast checking out on an MP3 marketplace.
