This vinyl picture disc pressing is only of two tracks by the band Portal which were originally available on the band's demo tape recording of the same name as this release, as well as their full-length album Outre'. Lurker at the Threshold contains the tracks "13 Globes" and "Omnipotent Crawling Chaos", both of which many fans claim are some of the act's best material. Well, it's obvious why, and now it's available again a little more then two years after they have been released on this collectable pressing from Chrome Leaf.
As mentioned, these songs are available outside of this release, so if you're a fan and already have the Outre' album, then this one is pretty much pointless until you're a collector. If you haven't and happen on this pressing, it's definitely worth it outside of collector's value. The two songs that make up this EP are heavy indeed with traditional guitar work that comes more along the lines of Black Metal then anything, and bridges that feature some complex Death Metal riffs and gutteral vocals. All of this is complimented by the raw recording sound of the tracks to create a violent sounding atmosphere, especially when the blast beats kick in on either track.
There really isn't much else to say about it except that the material here is superb and the picture disc itself is a nice collectable piece. The music here is very heavy and brutal and can easily pull the listener back to repeat spins. While the latter song "Omnipotent Crawling Chaos" is a little more enjoyable then "13 Globes", these songs still make up a solid Metal effort that any Metal fan will enjoy.
