Review
The latest single to be released from the upcoming Slayer album, Hate Worldwide is an exclusive one track CD single available only at Hot Topic retail stores. The band's previous single, "Psychopathy Red", saw the CD single treatment as well, and was a welcome track in the vein of Christ Illusion. This track, however, does not fit Slayer at all. "Hate Worldwide" is perhaps one of the lightest Slayer tracks you will ever hear. The drums are pounding, yes, but the guitars are just not what we have come to enjoy from the band's previous works. It's hard to describe, but almost has a groove metal aspect to it. The only real stand out to this would be the guitar solos, which are rather poor in comparison to previous solos the band has done, as well as perform on stage this very day. Overall, the song feels rather restrained, and it really shows, however it does help out with the vocals as they do fit the music moreso then the shouting found on the more recent material. Hate Worldwide is a nice collector's piece, but doesn't put much hope into their upcoming album World Painted Blood.
