Review
If Love Was Born To Die is the second EP to be released by the band Still Remains, and it definitely shows a great deal of promise. This metalcore act, while another falling into the mix of writing uplifting and Christian inspired lyrics, have crafted a rather catchy release that fans of this style will more then likely enjoy. While the music is catchy, and the keyboards in some of the tracks, such as "Recovery", are simple, but add a nice little flare to the track, the vocals could definitely use some work. A good majority of the time, when the vocalist is just normally shouting it sounds good, but there are times where he just starts to get whiny while he's doing it. It could just be that he's getting worn out from screaming, but this does kind of weaken the album. This is most prodominant during the first song, "Six And One", whereas the others incorporate more singing then shouting. The singing itself is decent, and far superior to some of the metalcore acts coming out nowadays that have tone deaf vocalists that can't harmonize. "I Can Revive Him With My Own Hands" is a track you'll probably end up skipping. The singing vocals on the track seem to border on the edge of emo, and become obnoxiously whiney during the chorus. If the vocals weren't so bad, this would be a spectacular track with some haunting keyboards going on in the background. Aside that, and the outro, which is just a nicely done piano track, the EP shows off a lot of promise from this band for future releases. While this isn't a rush right out and own it now album, it is something nice to listen to for a change of pace in a scene where all the bands are starting to meld together.
