"Hell's Headbangers January 2011 Releases"
Hell's Headbangers is quickly becoming a heavily recognized record label for sinister sounding metal. This January, the label is unleashing four brand new releases on the same date, January 18th, 2011. What's in store for the label's quickly growing fan base for the start of this year?
Acid Witch: Stoned
Acid Witch is one of those rare bands that manage to create a fantastic cult-like atmosphere reminiscent of the old Horror b-movies of the late 70's and early 80's by playing a mixture of both Death and Doom Metal. While not truly an original musical composition, their recordings have never failed to deliver a rich, haunting atmosphere. Stoned marks the band's second full-length offering, just a little over two years since their debut full-length, as well as their first full-length delivery through Hell's Headbangers. But, while rich with atmosphere, is Stoned an appropriate follow-up release?

Black Witchery: Inferno of Sacred Destruction
Black Witchery formed back in 1999, and since then has been a band that was reliable on putting out plenty of releases in the ten years it was a group. Of course, now this Black Metal act has existed for eleven years, and welcomes that extra time with their third full-length effort, Inferno of Sacred Destruction, which follows up their previous full-length effort about six years later, though it was released in late 2010 under Osmose Productions. With the band keeping a rather steady line-up, having had only one change with the removal of drummer/guitarist Darkwolf in 1997, it's safe to expect the same kind of Black Metal from the band. Right?

Grave Desecrator: Insult
Grave Desecrator is a Black/Death Metal act from the quickly growing Brazilian underground that many independent/underground labels have been taking notice of, such as Moribund Records, as well as Hell's Headbangers, which is the label that has signed this group. Formed back in 1998, the group has not put much out in the lines of releases, having only a handful available including two EPs and a debut full-length effort, Sign of Doom. Of course, 2010 was a busy year for the band, issuing an EP and Split release, and quickly on their heels is the band's second full-length effort, Insult. But, given the sudden surge of releases, is this an album that is needed to be completed so quickly, or will it come off as a release that was clearly rushed?

Inquisition: Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm
Inquisition. A band that I swore I would never review again. Nearly two months after I reviewed the Hell's Headbangers 2010 reissue of their debut album, I received a lot of flack from the underground Black Metal community. From insults that I don't know "shit about fuck", which makes me giggle as it was used on the back of a Cradle of Filth DVD as a quote from Bam Margera, to death threats, to a message from Dagon, vocalist of Inquisition, or a crazed fan pretending to be him and I didn't see the difference in the e-mail. At the time, it was disturbing, but today, many of these messages have been added saved, and became another believe it or not story, and one particular e-mail printed out and hanging in my living room as a discussion piece when friends come to visit. But, it seems Hell's Headbangers has a different opinion about that, and in a notification e-mail from their PR director, Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm, the fifth full-length effort from Inquisiton, was available for review.

-> Inquisition: Into the Infernal Regions of the Ancient Cult (2010 Reissue). Read the review here.
With the exception of one release, the January 2011 line-up from Hell's Headbangers looks pretty solid. All the releases feel quite at home with Hell's Headbangers, all displaying an old-school sinister or evil sound coupled with raw production traits. Of course, Inquisition seems to defy that rule somewhat and comes across a little more digital in comparison to some of the more lo-fi recordings this label has issued. If you're a fan of the label, then chances are good that you'll find more then one good release come January 18th, 2011.
