If you never heard anything from Aborted Fetus before, you’ll still feel familiar with them. After a simple score of ominous music against cheesy wails and moans above an inhuman howl for the first thirty seconds, “Savage Dominance” ushers in your traditional groove heavy performance littered with pig squeals and deep growls as randomly placed as the blasting drums. “Private Judgement Day” also has an introduction clip to it, coming off like a man haveing one or more appendages ripped off before moving into some oppressive atmospheric riffs that are brought back in later through an impressive guitar solo. The machine gun paced bass kicks fill the performance nicely for the main verses, and the consistent deeper squeals work perfectly with it. About half way through you’re introduced to a chugging slam that isn’t jaw-dropping, but is as effective as the later guitar solo’s matching of the rich introductory leads.
“Necropolis Demography” finds some of the drums to have sections that are a little louder, and a few times seem to cut for a moment, such as at forty-two seconds and forty-nine seconds in. There’s even a hint of Hardcore authority earlier on that is well done and suiting to the flow. It’s never mentioned again in this track, though does show briefly from time to time, such as during the enthusiastic “Fuck in a Pesthole.” This and “Garden of Kidney Stones” really show off the range the vocals can have but rarely utilize. This is sad due to how much more ruthless aggression is added to the mix, sometimes even sending it a bit over-the-top.
Most of Private Judgement Day is performed by the books, staying true to the traditional foundations of the Brutal Death Metal style. Outside some hints of Hardcore influence in short lived passages and some high pitched enthusiastic squeals, there’s nothing that really separates Aborted Fetus from any other band of the style, but they do it with great vigor. This isn’t a robotic, uninspiring effort by any means. Aborted Fetus still manage to create some hard hitting tracks that will have your head bobbing along at the very least. Other than some issues with the cymbals on more tracks than outlined in this article, there isn’t a single bad song to be found, making Private Judgement Day a safe bet when you just want something to play when you just want something to kick back and turn your brain off to.
