“But, if it’s that short, why even bother?” you may ask? Well, because their claim of “OLD SCHOOL PULSATING GOREGRIND” does live up to the caps they used on their description widget. “Running Through the Woods” and its chainsaw roaring start charges forward with a love for deep bass lines and down-tuning that drown out the vocals reminiscent of Mortician and Cropsy Maniac. There also were some off beat grooves there that “Shredded Texan Specialty” took full advantage of in a Texas Chainsaw Massacre sort of way, while “Family” was just twenty-eight seconds of grindcore violence. It all weaves together an extremely brief, yet ultimately satisfying three song effort that you can grab digitally at a “name your price” expense at THIS LOCATION.
Yes, it’s that time again. The point when I plunge into the depths of Bandcamp and hope I come back with something engaging. Instead of a top suggestions list, I opted to randomly choose from the releases of the past few days, and what caught my eye was Chop ! Hack ! Snap ! Crunch ! by the french goregrind outfit Pulsating Cerebral Slime. The black and white artwork with red font heralded an indie comic book look that immediately grabbed me into sampling what they bring to the table, which just happened to be an incredibly brief three song EP. So short, in fact, that reading this paragraph alone will probably take longer than to hear the entire release.
