The introductory track is nothing special at all, it’s just the title track being spoken evilly and slowly a few times, then at the end sped up (through the studio it sounds like) for a few chants prior to the track’s end. It doesn’t do much for the album, but it does give you a ominous feel to the rest of the tracks on here to the best of it’s abilities. What follows is some solid Blackened Thrash metal that is well composed and hits pretty hard. “Defender of Satan’s Honor” does come off a bit generic, but it still packs enough of a punch that you’ll still be somewhat impressed. “Leading Hell (Into Circle of Blood)” is really the best track off the release, and will leave you wishing the band had composed more songs like it.
While the material on here isn’t that bad, one of the problems is that “Invocation Into Devil’s Flesh” sounds a little repetative, almost as if it took a little too much from “Invocation Into Devil’s Flesh” when they recorded the song. Outside that, the rest of the release is superb. The production quality of the release is clear enough that nothing is drowned out and comes in clear, but still has a raw enough production quality that enhances the overall sound. Bleeding Fist also recorded a cover of the song “Messiah”, originally performed by Hellhammer, and it’s actually really good and does the original justice.
While it’s not the strongest release from a Blackened Thrash Metal act, Macabrum Bestria Ex Abyssus is still an audio punch to the gut with pounding drums and intense guitar work that will leave you wanting more then the four killer tracks of the five. Sure, there’s some repetition in the early stages, and an introduction track that’s only as good as the listener is willing to make it for what the track really is, but there’s still enough on here to warrant plenty of repeat spins. Macabrum Bestia Ex Abyssus is one of Bleeding Fist‘s better releases, and definately worth picking up, or at least checking out.
