The album starts off amazing with the track “Doomsayer (The Beginning Of The End)”, which is just an intense melodic death metal song with some great technical guitar work. But, here’s the thing, it seems that every other track on here is amazing, while the other in between are good, but definitely not as good or impressive as the others. “Demon(s)” is another spectacularly intense track with some great guitar work, but then the next song that really will kick you in the ass will be the more mellow sounding “A Paradox With Flies”. The instrumental track “The Light At The Edge Of The World” doesn’t really serve much of a purpose, but it does mark on the album where the band’s music changes up once again. “Stand And Receive Your Judgement” is a very heavy thrash influenced song that will no doubt have fans of some of the older material happy. The flow of the music seems to continue like that from this point, making for a set of closing tracks that seem to just change the further you get into them, reverting more and more with each song to what the band’s old sound was.
The only real let downs on this release are that the song “Tunguska” has a bit of a disapointing chorus and just feels drawn out when slower acoustic portion of music prior hits before and after the very well executed guitar solo, as well as “Fire In The Skies” which can become rather boring after a few listens. The closing track also must be noted, as this one is more like the tracks that kicked the album off, but it just doesn’t have the same punch and feels like it should have been the sixth track on the album to follow the pattern the music goes with every other song.
This well produced and constructed album has something for every fan of the band with the newer material on the first half of the album, and the chaotic thrash and metalcore tinged music that resembles the music that die hard fans grew to love. This break through release is a pivitol album for the band’s career, and Deliver Us really does show a lot of potential for future releases, and a lot of skill with the musicians.
