Veilburner
Highly praised and positively critically reviewed black metal/death metal duo Veilburner have built quite a name and reputation for themselves in a very short amount of time. Since their inception in 2014, the Pennsylvania based band has released an album a year, starting with 2014’s The Three Lightbearers. An album which received rave reviews and mentions from sites such as MetalSucks, Invisible Oranges, NoCleansinging, StereoKiller, and many more. Last year they dropped an equally well received follow up called Noumenon. Upon releasing Noumenon, Veilburner set a plan in motion to have a third album out this year that would complete the conceptual trilogy of themes and ideas which began on The Three Lightbearers. Right on schedule, the band recently completed work on their third full-length, The Obscene Rite, and have set a release date of Friday, September 30th for its official release.

While the term black/death often conjures up a rather straightforward mix of the two genres, Veilburner do so in a rather unorthodox and hard to quantify way that culls together elements from both regular and dissonant black metal, as well as standard death metal shot up with more technical death metal ideas, and intertwine all of that with a healthy dose of industrial, psychedelic, and prog influences. The result defies easy categorization, but easy straightforward listening has never been Veilburner’s goal.

The debut single from The Obscene Rite will be released on Monday, August 29th, so stay tuned for more Veilburner news coming soon. Music from the bands two prior full-lengths can be played at their Bandcamp linked to below for anyone new to the band who are curious about what they sound like.
