Anal Cunt: The Old Testament
Over the years, Anal Cunt had clearly built up an infamous reputation in the Grindcore community. Musically and lyrically, the group really tried to be rather offensive, but at the same time not give a damn what people thought of the music and seemed to just do whatever it is they wanted. Sometimes the material was good, and others just felt like it was composed in the middle of a drunken high or while whacked out on drugs. With sudden passing of vocalist Seth Putnam, there’s no denying that the group is now further out into the minds of society in general. Of course, this is because it’s time to make money off the memory. The Old Testament is the latest compilation, though completely sanctioned by the band (perhaps approved before Seth’s passing) to include all the EPs, demo, and split material from the late eighties and on in one two disc set. For fans it’s worth it, but what exactly does this release entail?

Anal Cunt: Fuckin' A
There really isn’t anything that could be said about the band Anal Cunt that anyone, from the oldest fan of heavier music, to the newest kid on the street who picked up something as lighter on the ears as the latest KoRn album. The racism, the taboo topics, suggesting abuse towards women, all of these have appeared in their music’s lyrics later after going from a Noisecore band to a more Grindcore act, and then some. However, Fuckin’ A makes up one of two CDs that are planned to be released soon, and it’s quite a departure for Anal Cunt entirely. Here, we have an album that is more geared to old-school Heavy Metal and Hard Rock songs, as well as toned down lyrics that are so tame it may cause the heads of many who know of this band’s history to explode in disbelief. Shockingly, Fuckin’ A would make for a really enjoyable release, caked in the Rock and Metal atmosphere of yesterday, right down to the low production quality one would expect from a direct, unaltered transfer from vinyl to CD. But, does this mean Fuckin’ A is gonna be an album everyone’s gonna embrace and maybe play in their cars without the intent to piss anyone off?
