A good friend of mine, Ryan Mullaney, decided to be a son of a bitch and rub in that he was going to check out the recent North America tour with Lacuna Coil, Epica, and Insomnium. The aspiring writer and photographer offered to shoot over the pictures he took for publication on this very site, which is what you will be seeing in three different parts. Up first? Epica.
Originally formed under the name Khaossos between 2014 and 2015, Kval stands as a one-man atmospheric black metal act from Finland. With a handful of releases behind, the man known simply as Kval has signed a deal with Hypnotic Dirge Records to unleash the entity’s debut self-titled album. However, it’s not a simple follow-up to the previous entity’s 015 full-length Kuolonkuu, but rather a re-imagining of that very release. A rebirth, if you will. And ahead of it’s release I was given the opportunity to shoot some questions over to the mastermind himself, as well as debut the first song off said offering.
Ukrainian blackened death metal group NordWitch may be a relatively young act having only formed in 2015, but their recent actions have been causing waves in the underground with their music and live shows. Blending together ideas of satanism, occultism, and Scandinavian mythology, this female fronted act has earned a loyal fanbase up to this point, and its bound to grow. For 2016 they have signed a deal with US based Dark Rituals Records and Russia’s own Satanath Records to unleash their debut album Mørk Profeti, and thanks to Satanath and Darzamadicus Records, as well as Grand Sounds PR, Apochs.net is proud to present the debut of “Dominion” from that very album.
Argentinian thrash/groove metal outfit Granada‘s third full-length effort PrisionEgo was initially released through Tommy Gun Entertainment in 2015. Since then, it has been made available on compact disc (limited to five hundred copies) and digital formats through Symbol of Domination Productions in late April of this year, coinciding with their current tour schedule. You can also now check out the entire follow-up full-length right here thanks to the label and Grand Sounds PR!
It’s been quite a while since we last heard from Chris and Robb of Zamboni. And, if the recent legal troubles were an indication, it might have been the last time. The NY/NJ crossover thrash act set their sights on relesing a debut full-length album, but had to change their name to Nuclear Hatred, which is now the title of said recording. I reached out to the duo to inquire about said woes, as well as what’s been going on in the group and other such inquiries about the new offering. Check out what they had to say below, and be sure to give the album a spin as well. If you like what you hear, you can pick up it up digitally through their official Bancamp account!
If you’re a fan of bone-crushing doom metal laced with a thick slab of sludge and stoner metal input, then allow me to introduce you to Pensevor. This four-piece has been making their rounds since forming in 2011, and unleashed a three-song EP themselves back in 2013. After three more years, they’re returning with their debut full-length effort, Klothod, which will see a strictly limited physical run through Hibernacula Records, then only be available digitally on the group’s official Bandcamp. Have I got your attention yet?
